The Reformed Body is in its 18th year. I am so proud of where we have come in that time and always knew Joe Pilates’ Method would be long lasting in Mont Albert!

I knew that after completing my studies in Pilates, i would open a Pilates Studio.  Some people at the time who had not experienced Pilates doubted the viability of such a business. However, I had a strong belief of all the benefits Pilates could bring, so all I had to do was to get the message out there! 18 years later here we are- still going strong!

Using my background as an Exercise Physiologist since the year 2000, my focus is always on the detailed movement of the body and on improving the efficiency of the kinetic chain of movement. Dysfunction by either inactivity or overactivity in muscles and joints can cause stiffness, pain and the inability to live a functional life.

Why do I love my profession?

Well…. all the lovely people that I meet, hearing comments on how good people feel after doing a class, the absolute belief that I have in the benefits of good posture & knowing if done well, relieve pain will be relieved, the friends I have met in the industry and the passion I have for my  job. I also love to learn, learn learn!  One can never ever know everything about the body!

My  favorite exercise? Pulling straps 1 and 2 on the reformer, Preparation for Swan on the Wunda Chair, and swan with rotation on the Wunda chair………my back loves it when I do them!

I have three beautiful boys- Charlie (14), Darcy (10) and Tommy (7). I live locally  and the business is involved in the local community through donations of service for various fundraising events.

My plans for the future? To keep on spreading the word of Joe Pilates, decrease my carbon footprint for our children and all the other beautiful babies in this world, return to mountain biking and go back to ski in Fernie, BC, Canada.

After reaping the benefits of Pilates first hand, I wanted to become an instructor to help others. Pilates offers me a place to calm my mind and focus on myself from the inside out, to release, unwind, move and work her body, a refuge from the hectic corporate world of deadlines and mental challenges.
I care about creating an environment where my clients do just that. I enjoy the creativity of catering to individual client needs. I feel joy when clients leave the studio feeling happier as they have connected to themselves and their body. I aim to have you feeling lengthened, stronger and accomplished. I am particularly interested in breath work. I loves any exercise that moves my body in rotation and thoracic flexion and like the feeling of having worked my obliques, length and of having gained an understanding about my body or conquered a challenging movement.

Things that feed my soul are, design and creativity, time spent with my husband Eric, family and close friends especially when good food is at hand, candles, meditation, walking or bike riding in nature, trees, travel especially to Europe or Tassie, constantly learning more about myself and things that interest me, dark chocolate and spending time in Daylesford renovating my dream property.

It wasn't a straight run into becoming a Pilates’ instructor for me. There have been a few changes along the way, however, the underlying theme to communicate & help others has been consistent.  A career as a radio producer & reporter led to a move in to TV & then event management. With some ridiculously high heels & a clipboard in hand I would glide around organising & hosting events. It was a fantastic job but hideous for the posture! So Pilates was a major part of my fitness routine, and it wasn’t surprising I made the move to become a Pilates teacher, completing my APMA level 2 instructor course in 2015.

What do I love about Pilates?  The way it teaches me to move my body as it was designed to move and stay in touch with parts of our muscular system we have long forgotten since we used to run around in the playground. I love its ability to strengthen, lengthen and rehabilitate the body. It gives me a tool kit to self manage my pain and relieve tightness in the body. It doesn't discriminate by age, gender or experience. It's for everyone. It has a use for anyone. And that's what I want to share with you.

I began my Pilates career as a mat instructor in 2014.  In teaching, I love problem solving and have immensely enjoy sharing my knowledge with my clients as I help them with their goals having fun along the way!

In my class, you’ll enjoy functional movement with the focus on breath, movement and flow. I find yoga and Pilates compliments my mental and physical limits to improve strength & flexibility. My goal for each class is to have clients walking out with a smile, mix of exhaustion and ready to start or end the day feeling amazing! My fitness philosophy is fitness should be natural, uncomplicated and enjoyable.

My favourite things are traveling, learning new things, art and design, making people sweat, listening to 3RRR, yoga and of course Pilates.

My current favourite exercise would be Rolldown on Ladder Barrel. My body just can’t get enough of this spine articulation!
